Scrappy Stripes

I came home from vacation and found a box of scraps in my mail.  How fun!

I immediately knew that I wanted to make some blocks for this month's Covered In Love block drive.

This month's block is a scrappy stripe block created by Cynthia who has asked for blocks in warm colors of orange, red, yellow, or purple.

I dont think that I have ever made a yellow quilt before, but seeing all these bright blocks on my design wall make me think I need a yellow quilt.

Finish It Friday - Double Star Quilts

Confessions Of A Fabric Addict

Oh, yes I did finish this pair of double star quilts this week for the H2H Challenge!

Why 2 Star quilts?  Well.......I had one complete quilt cut out, but then somehow misplaced a stack of the pieces.  So, I went ahead and cut new pieces to make the 1st quilt top.  Then, I found the original stack of pieces and thought that I should just add some new pieces and finish a second quilt.

Two more finished quilts for this year's Hands 2 Help Challenge.  I have to finish the binding on one more quilt and then I will be done with the challenge.  Thank you to everyone who gave me scraps for Christmas.  Don't worry, I still have plenty more scraps to get me through 2017 (I think).

Sew Some Love - H2H

It is getting close to the end of this year's Hands 2 Help Challenge, and my projects are starting to get finished.

This weekend I finished another Lolly quilt.  It is a wild, scrappy mixture of patterns, but it seems to work together great.

Next up, I am hoping to finish the binding on a few more quilts and then I will move on to working on this month's Covered In Love blocks.

Friday Finish - Charming Plus Quilts

This week I was able to finish 2 quilts!  Yes, 2 quilts are complete and mailed off as part of this year's Hands 2 Help Challenge.

Both of these quilts were created during the Charming Plus Quilt Along.

The blocks sizes are slightly different between the quilts and was determined by the size of the scraps that I had.  The bright quilt on the left was made entirely from scraps that I received from several people last Christmas.  I couldn't believe that all of theses scraps supported the same color scheme.

Hopefully, I will have a few more quilts completed for this challenge.

Friday Finish - Fancy Blue Foxes

I have started finishing my quilts for this year's Hands 2 Help Challenge.  An abundance of scraps that I received this past Christmas has led to multiple quilts for this year's challenge.

This week's finish is Fancy Foxes in blue.

This is the second time that I have used this pattern and have found that it works great for using all types of fabrics in my stash, both traditional and modern.  I made the first fox quilt using my orange scraps.

There is still time to join in this year's challenge.  Next week I hope to finish another scrappy, happy houses quilt.

Friday Finish - Quilts For Cure

Yay! I have a finish this week.  This beautiful and bright happy, scrappy houses quilt is off to Quilts For Cure.

This quilt is made entirely from donated scraps that I asked for Christmas.  It is so bright and cheerful and is off to hopefully spread some quilty joy to a child fighting against cancer.

Hands 2 Help Challenge 2017

One of my favorite times of the quilt year is the Hands to Help Challenge (H2H) and this will be my fifth year participating.  There are 3 charities this year and I hope to have quilts for each of them.

Confessions Of A Fabric Addict

For Christmas I asked for scraps, and wow did I get a lot of scraps!  Plenty of beautiful fabric, just perfect for H2H quilts.

This week, I finished the quilting on the first of two happy, scrappy houses quilts.  I just need to finish the binding and hopefully I will have a finish this week.

Also while making my challenge quilts, I somehow decided that I had to immediately take control of the overload of scrappy strings.  Soon there will be a huge stack of string blocks on the way to Covered in Love.  These are surprisingly fast to make.

Quilts for Cure - Heart Blocks

This week I am making heart blocks for Quilts For Cure benefiting children with cancer.  I couldn't seem to stop with making just one.

They are requesting blocks made in color combinations of navy, yellow, and/or white.  I am lucky that I received a bunch of yellow scraps for Christmas because this color is always missing from my stash.

The blocks are being collected until Valentine's Day.

Taking A WIP Detour

I am feeling better this week about all of my WIP's that had started to pile up.  I just cleaned off my work surface and feel ready to create again.  Out of sight, out of mind - right.

Well, I did finish a Sew Together bag and all of my Fancy Fox blocks, but I still have a ways to go with my other projects.

I also started and finished a new project.

I finished 2 pillowcases for #theselflessnessproject on Instagram benefiting the Shriner's Hospital for Children.  The goal of this project is to donate 100 pillowcases on Valentine's Day.

I have been phasing novelty fabrics out of my stash, but thought I would use some of this Star Trek fabric I have been hoarding.  I think it turned out fun.

Scrappy, But Fancy Foxes

MUST NOT GIVE IN.........MUST STAY STRONG.........MUST NOT START NEW PROJECTS!!

I just did a quick count of the projects on my work surface and it is 6.  Yes, 6 projects right here on my table.  I keep wanting to start something new, but I think it's time to tackle the growing stack of WIPs (Works In Progress).

During the Christmas season, I asked for scraps and wow, did I get a bunch of scraps.  There was almost no need to sort them by color because they were overwhelmingly blue.

I thought that all of these varied blue scraps would look fun as foxes.  I have almost enough finished to make my first charity quilt top for 2017.  It doesn't have a home just yet, but I am sure that it will find one soon.  I have a feeling that it will be ready for an upcoming quilt drive for children with cancer.

Maybe if I can get focused and stop thinking about new projects, this will be my first finish of 2017.
