Bloggers Fall Festival - 2018

It's time for the fall Bloggers Quilt Festival and I thought I would share one of my favorite quilts - the Georgia tulips quilt.

Since I give most of my quilts away, I thought that I needed something of my own and was inspired by the cover quilt on the book "Georgia Quilts".

I really had no idea how to recreate that quilt, so I kinda made up the process as I went along.

I used every scrap in my scrap box, and did not edit anything.  If it was in the box, it got used and in no particular order.

The string pieced tulips are hand sewn together and then hand sewn to the background.  It was then hand quilted in a free-form manner.

I love seeing this bright, cheerful quilt hanging on my wall everyday!  I have even been thinking about making a larger quilt for my bed.

Please check out some of the other quilts shared in the Bloggers Quilt Festival.

  1. You had me at scrap and then you lost me at hand sewn. Ha. I love hand quilting as long as someone else is doing it. You can't beat the nostalgic look of it. Really cute quilt. Love the red backgrounds.

  16. You captured the vintage vibe so well with the red fabrics and hand stitching. I'm impressed with your inclusive scrap use; I still struggle not to be overzealous with my editing.
