There's nothing like waiting until the last minute! I thought that this month's maritime theme would be easy. I went through my stash repeatedly and didn't find anything, except a bit of Saltwater in my Tula stash. I also had no ideas.
I decided to make a project inspired by a Craftsy class, Pattern Free Quiltmaking. I am going to call this mini "Waves" and it finishes at 12 x 12.
I started with 4 1/2 inch squares and a package of navy bias tape. Then, I started sewing the bias tape in squiggles or waves on each of the squares. I sewed the squares together and planned to use white thread to FMQ. But I thought this may look kinda boring. So I pulled different color blue embroidery threads and echo quilted the lines rather free-formed creating a ripple effect.
(Hoping to get a better photo with more light because the mini does not look so dull. )
Do you have a maritime project to link up this month? Check out all the entries at Le Challenge. I cant wait to see what the next month's theme will be.
