Design Wall Monday - Spiderwebs

What is on my design wall?  Well, it is spiderwebs again.  All of the blocks are complete and a top should be ready quite soon.

So, how did I get back to this project?  Well, I was ready to put my stars together during the last holiday weekend.  All the squares were laid out on the living room floor all weekend and I went back and forth trying to decide on 3 possible layouts.  I chose layout #3 and got the top about 25% together and hated it.  So I told myself to give it a chance and kept going till it was 50% complete and -------I still hated it.

This really kinda bummed me out.  My mom suggested that I put the whole project away for awhile and think about it.  She thinks I should complete this layout.  But, I think that since I put all the time and work into hand piecing the stars that I will spend some time with the seam ripper this weekend and go with my #1 layout.

So while I was stewing over the star quilt, I felt like getting some sewing done and went back to my scrap box of strips.  I am quite happy that the spider webs made a big dent in the scrap box!

Also, I got some squishy mail this week from Marta at From Marta With Love.  I won her 100 Day Hustle contest and received a handmade item.  Look at what I got!

It is a linen wine bag and it is excellently constructed.  This is so cute, it inspires me to upgrade my sewing skills.

  2. I just finished a project that I didn't end up loving either. Sometimes the stars just don't line up and everything seems wrong...but at least it ends up giving us something - a chance to improve a skill or just ideas on how to do it better next time. Keep at it! :)
