A Lovely Year of Finishes - March

I can't believe that March is almost gone.  I may have missed my February goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes, but my March goal has been completed.

The Happy Go Lucky hexy quilt has been completed!  This quilt started out as a project for a long car ride during Christmas 2013.  The placement of the hexagons is totally random.  Since the hexies are hand pieced, I decided to hand quilt this piece.

I like having this done because it reminds me of a Spring quilt, the kind that is ready to take out for a picnic.  I have already started its sister quilt done in "Miss Kate".

Hands to Help Challenge 2015

Today is the first day of the 2015 Hands 2 Help (H2H) Challenge.  There are three charities to choose from this year and I have already started working on my quilts.

This weekend I finished a scrappy quilt using Tula Pink's Lolly pattern which I made with scraps. This has become one of my go-to quilt patterns for using up scraps.

I am also glad that I can cross this WIP off my 1st quarter list.

Le Challenge - Passion

This month's Le Challenge theme is "passion".  I honestly thought that I would skip this month because I wasn't sure what to make, but then realized this is a challenge so I needed to step it up a bit.

Once I thought about it though, it was easy.  My passion is quilting and it has been for many years. On my sewing wish list has always been a quilting pouch that I could carry my supplies, especially when I am making hexies.

This is the Mending Kit from Michelle Patterns made in my favorite Tula Pink fabric line, The Birds & The Bees.

It was easy to make in one afternoon.  The hard part was deciding on what fabrics to use.

I have also made the Idea Pouch from Michelle Patterns.  Here is a shot of both to show the difference in the sizes.

Please check out the other "passion" themed entries for this month's Le Challenge

A Lovely Year of Finishes - March

alyof2015

It's time for me to set a March goal as part of A Lovely Year of Finishes.  I was really close in February, but I did not finish my Happy Go Lucky hexy quilt.  The hand quilting was completed, but not the binding.

So, my goal for March will be to get this quilt completed.  The binding has been cut, I just need to get to work.  It does feel good to work on getting this old WIP finished.
